GET TO KNOW ME
Hello you!
…I’m Lizzie - copywriter, storyteller and aspiring rom-com author. Former lawyer (yes, really) and recovering people-pleasing perfectionist with a soft spot for astrology, moon magic and strong coffee.
My mission is to help heart-led business owners and creative souls share their stories with clarity and heart… without the jargon, overwhelm or pressure to “sound professional.”
From redundancy to rom-coms
(aka the plot twist I didn’t see coming)
First things first, you need to know this about me… until recently, I’d always played the role of the good girl. The geeky academic. The hard worker. The people pleaser. The straight-A student who did what was expected… not necessarily what she wanted.
At my school, if you were half bright, you were “gently encouraged” toward Medicine or Law. As science bored me to tears (sorry, science peeps), Law felt like the better fit. I’d probably watched too much Ally McBeal (showing my age here), or maybe it was because my teenage boyfriend wanted to study Law. (I mean, you think you’ll be together forever at that age, don’t you?)
So off I went to the University of Nottingham, equal parts terrified and excited to leave my cosy Lancashire life behind. I loved uni life… but I hated my degree. So, what did I do? Change courses? Do something that lit me up? Of course I didn’t! I carried on being the good girl… doing what was expected of me.
Fast-forward a few years: I graduated, completed Law School, qualified as a solicitor, bought a house, married a man I didn’t love, and did everything “right.” I should have been happy… proud even. But I wasn’t. I was anxious, exhausted, unloved, borderline bullied, and downright miserable.
Then, just before Christmas 2008, the Universe delivered the biggest kick up the backside: I was made redundant.
It was terrifying. But honestly? I felt like a blessed relief. For the first time in years, I could breathe. I didn’t have to keep showing up to a job that was sucking my soul.
That unexpected shake-up gave me the freedom (and the nudge) to finally listen to my intuition. A week later, I landed my first freelance copywriting job and I’ve never looked back.
By 2014, I’d built my own business helping clients find their authentic voice and bring their message to life. And now, when I’m not writing for others, I’m working toward publishing my first rom-com novel… proof that storytelling has always been at the heart of who I am.
And as for the husband? Let’s just say the Universe had me covered there too!
What I believe
✨ Writing should come from the heart, not from a robot.
✨ Words are like spells. They have power, but use them wisely.
✨ Your copy doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to feel and sound like you… not who you think you should be.
A few things about me
Lancashire girl born and bred, but soon leaving the not-so-sunny North behind as we set off to explore the world in our converted Danish fire truck.
Married to Luke (known him for over 30 years - definitely the yang to my yin and the science to my spiritual!), mum to 12-year-old Charlie, and dog mum to our cocker spaniel, Baxter.
Obsessed with the moon and astrology.
Some things I love (in no particular order): long walks and strong coffee, cauldron-esque baths and rom-com novels, Greek island beaches and Lake District fells, leopard print and loungewear (well… pyjamas really), strokable notebooks and inky pens, scented candles and fleecy blankets, oracle cards and crystals, sunrises and sunsets, seasons and slow living, people who aren’t dickheads.
